Cookies
MyFPL sets three cookies. None of them track you, and none of them are for advertising.

What a cookie is
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep and hand back on your next visit. It is how a site remembers that you are signed in, rather than asking for your password on every single page.
The cookies MyFPL sets
- Your sign-in session. Set by Supabase, our authentication provider, with a name beginning
sb-. It is what keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Without it, signing in is impossible. It is removed when you sign out. myfpl-theme— remembers whether you chose the light or the dark appearance. It is set only when you press the toggle yourself, it holds the single word “light” or “dark”, and it lasts a year.myfpl-view-as— only ever set for an administrator, and only while they are previewing MyFPL as an ordinary subscriber in order to check what subscribers see. If you are not an administrator, this cookie is never set for you.
Why there is no cookie banner
UK rules require consent for cookies that are not necessary — chiefly advertising and analytics cookies. MyFPL has none. There is no analytics package, no advertising network and no third-party script of any kind on this site, so nothing here is watching what you do.
The session cookie is strictly necessary: the service cannot sign you in without it. The appearance cookie stores a preference you set yourself, by pressing a button, and holds nothing but the word “light” or “dark”. Interrupting every visitor with a consent box for that would be theatre rather than protection.
If we ever add analytics, this page will change and we will ask you first.
Turning cookies off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. It is worth knowing that blocking them for MyFPL means you will not be able to sign in at all — the sign-in page will simply return you to itself, because there is nowhere to keep the session. The landing page, this page and the other legal pages work perfectly well with cookies blocked.
